The issue is your second last step.
if a squared = b squared, then a= +b or -b
thus (5-3) squared = (1-3) squared
from that you conclude 5-3 = + (1-3) or - (1-3)
The latter is true
Thus it should be
3-x = pi-x or -(pi-x). The former leads to illogical conclusion. Therefore the latter is true
which leads to 2x = 3+pi
x = half of (3+pi)
